OK, let me start by saying, this movie is definately not for the easily offended, those under 18 or anyone with any sense of moral decency. "A man walks into a talent agents office. The agent says, so..what's your act. The man says, it's a family act, let me show you. The agent says, "ok, you have 2 minutes...." That's the set up for the raunchiest verbal smutfest ever put on film. Suffice it to say Gilbert Gottfried is a genius and all the comedians hysterical. Make sure you check out the special features...fucking awsome!!

Now Playing: Life and movies..for now
Sorry I haven't written, but life's not let me to really see many movies. With 2 jobs and 2 kids, my time is at a premium. But I did get the opportunity recently to catch "King Kong" and let me tell you, it was amazing. The basic story is the same, set back in the 30's, including a cute line mentioning Fay Wray, who was orinally planned to say the last line of the film. You get some more background on Anne Darrow. The real action starts when you get to Skull Island. The effects are the best I've ever seen, there I said it. Adrian Brody is terrific and Jack Black is restrained, but fabulous. Go see this one on the big screen and pee before you go in, you won't wanna miss a second

If you're not familiar with the term, a trailer is that preview you see before a movie starts.
There are a few great places online to watch trailers. Movie List is one. Another is Quicktime.
Anyway, I was looking throught the trailers and got to see a very cool one for a movie not coming out very soon. King Kong. Now, I was one of the ones who didn't much like the 1976 remake and loved the original. But if this movie is half as good as the trailer, it'll be HUGE. The action looks awesome, Jack Black is perfectly cast and Naomi Watts and Adrian Brody look cool. The idea here that they keep the action in the 1930's works well.King Kong Trailer

I saw a few new movies recently and would love to share some info with ya.

Hostage starring Bruce Willis.
I have to say, this one was a pleasant surprise. They used every cliche in the book in this story of a former LA Hostage negotiator who "retires" to a life as Sherrif of a small California town. Now, don't ya know some guys would start a hostage situation and old Bruce needs to get involved. I won't give away the twists, but they're good ones.

Coach Carter starring Smauel L. Jackson.
One of the best actors of our generation, Sam Jackson brings a terrific performance to this reality-based story of an inner city high school basketball coach hired to turn around a once proud basketball tradition and in the process give the kids a sense of discipline and self-worth. Yes, an old theme..but it still works. Well, those are the big 2 in stores this week, this weekend I'll be watching The Pacifier, as well as 7 Seconds with Wesley Snipes. I'll let you know how they are.

I read yesterday with much disappointment about the closing of the Beekman Theater in Manhattan. I lived around the Beekman for years and what a wonderful movie theater. No multiplex, just one single screen seating about 800 people, I had some of the most wonderful viewing moments of my life. Slap Shot, Animal House, Sea of Love and hundreds more movies I watched there. The great thing about the theater was the concession area. You could still see the movie from the downstairs area, whether waiting on line or on the way to the bathroom. I saw a couple of premiers there too. Star-studded affairs. I'll never forget being a foot away from Al Pacino at the Sea of Love opening. This was a theater of fondest memories.

I was sitting watching "Be Cool" the other day, an awesomely underrrated flick. As the credits rolled, I was surprised to see the screenwriter was Peter Steinfeld. Now, I'd known Pete had also written "Drowning Mona" a little quirky film I wasn't especially fond of, but this was a big budget sequel! And I liked it!! You see, Pete was my customer service rep back when I worked for ETD as a video tape distributor, back in the mid 90's. Pete would take my orders and make sure all went right with my customers and I was very disappointed the day he left to try to become a screenwriter. HE FUCKING DID IT!!
I got ahold of him and today we spoke at legnth..how he made it, family, etc. The things you talk about with long lost friends. But I kept thinking..I'm talking to a real screenwriter..he made the dream come true. Just shows you that paying your dues, doing the little things and just plain trying really work.
Go out and rent "Be Cool" or "Analyze That" or "Drowning Mona" and give it up for the writer who made it.

1) Hitch Starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James This one rocks!! fucking funny! a terrific romantic comedy. Hitch (Widescreen Edition)

2) A Damn Shame Starring Tracey Ullman and Johnny Knoxville, Directed by John Waters SUCKED! no 2 ways about it. A great premise, this one fucking sucks

Now Playing: Summer movies
So..summer movie season has begun and I'm looking at a few movies to be HUGE. We all know Star Wars is a behemouth hit and I can' wait to see it. I did see Monster-in-law and it was awesome!! Madagascar was good, not great, but I'll see it again on DVD. but what's really got me excited is everything I'm hearing about "Batman Begins". Now, I have loved the character of Batman since the old tv show was originally aired, yes I am that old. From what little I've seen and from everything I've read, this is THE Batman movie to end all Batman movies. Enough with the villain being the star of the movies. Come on, a guy who can kick some serious ass wearing a Bat costumes to scare criminals. A guy who's on the verge of insanity...that is one great character. And from what I hear, this movie really gets into his psyche. Remember, this is a guy who saw his parents gunned down in front of him, that is something to fuck anyone up.
The other movies I'm really looking forward to are Fantastic 4, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wedding Crashers and War of the Worlds. I simply love the summer movies, I mean there's a time and place for thought provoking, controversial films, but in the summer, I want escapism.

OK..boring blog intro..but it's mine...
I love movies. There..not so original, but the truth. There are few things I enjoy more than sitting in a dark theater with a big bucket of popcorn, no butter, and enjoying a big, blow-your-ears-off extravaganza. The shared emotions, the laughter the shriek as one in a horrow film are like music to my ears. From the time I coerced my grandmother to take me to "Yellow Submarine" thru last week's screening of "Monster-in-law" I've been entranceed. I made movies my first career out of college and if there was still a decent wage to be earned, I'd be doing it still. But life and responsibility and reality have pushed my passion back to a "when I can" situation. But here..with my website and my blog, I can indulge myself...hopefully you'll come along and join my ride.

Ok, lemme get these things out of the way:
1. My favorite movies are
The Godfather
Animal House
Goodfellas
Blazing Saddles

2. Popcorn is movie food. As are Twizzlers, m&m's and any other quiet, food easily stashed in pockets.
3. I don't begrudge the theater chains' pricing of snacks due to the prohibitive deals they have to sign with the studios, but I reserve the right to sneak snacks in if my finances dictate I must.
4. I don't chat in your living room, don't talk in the theater.
5. Theaters should not preview pg-13 movies during a kids' movie, whatever the rating is for the actual film.

how's that for a start? write me..cause a stir...have some fun
